City of Ashland
Stracker Solar facilitated a Community Renewable Energy Grant awarded for the City of Ashland for a high-efficiency elevated solar and storage project.
The $940,000 grant procured in 2023 from the Oregon Department of Energy fully covered the design and construction costs of the innovative microgrid project Stracker Solar designed and installed at the City's Service Center.
The six-Stracker project provides 170,000 kWh clean energy annually to the Electric Department building. It also includes two Level-3 Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (EVCS) and a battery backup. The system infrastructure will facilitate future 2-way EVCS units to enable the use of electric vehicle batteries as additional backup when needed. The project ensures uninterrupted operation of critical city services when the electric grid is down, providing power to the Electric Department essential services and city vehicle fuel pump station. Additionally, the elevated design of these cutting-edge solar trackers offers the parking lot shade during the day and lighting at night.
This project exemplifies the significant positive impact achievable for municipalities through initiative, collaboration, and innovation. Stracker Solar is proud to contribute to Ashland's leadership in emerging solar technologies and to support the city's commitment to sustainability.
